Burger King’s Twitter account hacked

Fast food giant Burger King's Twitter account was suspended earlier today after it was apparently hacked into.

The page was defaced with messages that the account had been sold to rivals McDonald's. The @BurgerKing account name was changed to 'McDonalds' and the famous Golden

Arches logo added to the page. The reason, according to the hackers, was "because the whopper flopped".

The page has since been taken down, but not before the hackers posted tweets that included racist comments to around 83,000 Burger King followers, a total that snowballed to over 108,000 following the attack.

It seems that the hacktivist collective Anonymous may have been responsible, having Tweeted about a new operation called #OpMadCow.
