Avoid “Facebook pages you might like” scam emails

Our colleagues at Action Fraud are warning people to beware of emails claiming to be from Facebook and suggesting "Pages you might like".

Unusually for scam emails, they address the recipient by first name, and contain a number of pictures that if clicked on, lead to legitimate but compromised websites hosing malware

The email addresses you by your first name and contains a series of pictures that take the user to legitimate but compromised websites hosting malware. If you receive one of these emails, do not click on any links and do not forward it. Instead, delete it and report it to Action Fraud.

If you use Facebook and want to safely review notifications, visit the website directly by typing the URL into your browser to ensure it is safe.
