Too many passwords?

Password stamp RSA Security recently published its password management survey (Adobe PDF format). The company makes devices that replace conventional passwords, so they have an understandable interest in running them down, but the findings ring true. In particular:

  • End users are managing more passwords than they can remember.
  • They find this very frustrating.
  • At the same time, a majority of security personnel thought that passwords were very important to IT security...
  • and very concerned about the risks or impact involved in dependency on them.
