Thanks Edinburgh ... it was great

By Tim Mitchell on 25 Oct, 2012

This blog is being written at the ferry terminal as we bid farewell to bonny Scotland after yet another successful day - in the beautiful and historic city of Edinburgh.

The staff at Edinburgh Station made us most welcome as we continued our quest to raise awareness of internet security. As expected it's a really busy commuter station and the team was kept busy.

In the meantime, we set up shop at St James Shopping, having battled through the roadworks which seem to be everywhere in the central city at the moment. Leaflets, t-shirts, foam hands and liberal quantities of good advice were distributed in the true spirit of 'Click & Tell'. Again, some themes seemed to predominate with the questions .... safe emailing and keeping children protected. I

chatted to a lovely lady of 90 about safe emailing but probably to no avail ... as she seemed to know as much about phishing, attachements and spam as I did! A big thank you to the staff at the precinct who were most accommodating.

The coach parked in Castle Street, or more accurately, across Castle Street, so you couldn't exactly miss it. With Edinburgh Castle as an amazing backdrop, we handed out our striking black Click & Tell t-shirts, perhaps in retrospect not the most appropriate choice of dress at temperatures struggled to rise above 8 degrees. But it was a beautiful sunny day and we were joined by enthusiastic helpers from Gumtree, PhonepayPlus, Symantec and of course the SDCEA and the SBCC. Thanks so much everybody.

A team from the BBC filmed us at the coach for the 6pm TV news programme. We continue to hit key national and regional broadcast targets with the GSOL Week story, and our social media activity is going ballistic!

Now it's on to our last stop Belfast, where we'll be at the following locations:

Europa Bus Centre & Great Victoria Street Station 8.00am - 9.30am
City Hall 12.00noon - 2.00pm
Tesco Extra Knocknagoney Road 2.30pm - 3.30pm

See you there? Hope so!
