Her identity was stolen … then her money
“A couple of months ago I went out with my mates for a meal and we decided to go clubbing afterwards. After a couple of hours my handbag got stolen – funny because I’m usually so careful.
I had all the normal stuff in my bag, you know … keys, phone, cards, as well as my makeup of course! When I found out that it had gone we left early and went back to my flat to make sure nobody had got in using the keys. Next day I had the lock changed and cancelled my cards, so I reckoned I’d done everything I could.
Then I started getting weird letters from finance businesses abroad who I’d never even heard of. Eventually I put two and two together and realised that my ID had been stolen using my name from the cards in my purse, and personal details which I’d put on my Facebook profile and posts. The thief had set up bank accounts and store accounts in my name and taking the money from my bank account. Gutted.”
